Pre-reading activities:
In small groups (3-4), learners discuss about the celebrations in their own native culture.
In group, discuss of the similarities between different celebrations and make a brainstorm of the vocabulary used to describe celebrations.
Individually, the students look at the table of contents and take notes about what they know about the countries and culture that are in the story.
Post-reading activities:
After the students read the story, they have to find similarities and differences that exist between the cultures and languages presented (2 similarities, 2 differences).
They also have to identify three things they've learned.
Then, learners try to answer a question they have about the languages or cultures they learned about, using different resources (internet, books, native speaker, etc.)
Reading activity:
During the reading process, the students use different strategies to follow the text with the audio support.
They also confirm the statements they made, based on their personal knowledge, about the different cultures presented in the story.
